Description

The Ceded Reinsurance team places reinsurance on behalf of Convex Group. We are looking for an experienced colleague to become part of the team, led by Rishi Aggarwal. You will be expected to support and lead reinsurance placements, collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as Underwriters, Actuaries and Brokers. This role requires a deep understanding of reinsurance concepts, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Some of the key tasks may include:

  • Drive the design and execution of ceded reinsurance programmes, ensuring that they align to the Convex portfolio optimisation and risk management strategy.
  • Develop relationships with Brokers and Reinsurers, constantly seeking to deepen your understanding of the market and its trends and developments.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Analytics, Legal, Operations to provide optimal recommendations on strategic direction.
  • Collaborate with the Ceded Re Operations team to ensure smooth and accurate data capture.
  • Manage and support the design and implementation of various Ceded Re related tools and projects.
  • Use innovative thinking to develop new solutions.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • Several years of relevant experience, ideally in a Ceded Re purchasing function, allowing you to immediately contribute to the team and take ownership of individual placements and internal projects.
  • Experience within, or a proven interest in, Casualty and Financial Lines products is an advantage, combined with an ability to shift focus to a different line of business when needed.
  • A deep insight into the market including understanding of contract wordings and market trends.
  • Robust quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
  • Excellent networking and influencing skills with an ability to build meaningful relationships internally and externally.
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and written at all levels of seniority.
  • A keen team player, open to sharing knowledge and looking for ways to improve.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Hard working with attention to detail.
