Summary and overview of the role:
Reporting to the CE&I Maintenance Manager, the CE&I Technician will be a key asset in CORE Nuclear Solutions and is expected to contribute to all areas of the business. Working as a member of the Maintenance team, the CE&I Technician’s duties will be to plan and perform on-site installation, inspections and maintenance of equipment, manufactured and supported by CORE. This role will be based at our Lillyhall, Workington facility and may require working at external sites throughout the UK.
Minimum Essential Qualifications/ Experience and Role Requirements:
- Apprenticeship in a relevant trade
- HNC or relevant experience
- Have experience in a CE&I role in a regulated industry
- Able to obtain security access to nuclear installations. (BPSS – P4/SC Clearance)
- Able to supply a current DBS criminal records check
- Willing to travel / overnight when required
- Able and willing to work in nuclear facilities, including situations requiring use of specialist PPE e.g. PVC and respirators.

Duties, Skills and Responsibilities:
- Comply with industry health and safety working practices and regulations. Work in a safe manner and comply with defined statutory and company, local Health and Safety rules and regulations at all times.
- Perform on-site service and warranty functions as requested by the customer and authorised by CORE.
- Perform routine and non-routine maintenance activities on plant and equipment as efficiently and safely as possible to defined quality specification.
- Ensure that all CORE requirements for service have been completed before leaving the customer’s facility.
- Generate and submit service and installation reports.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Maintain close contact with customers regarding engineering matters across all product lines and offer technical support as needed.
- Fulfil requirements for maintenance and installations by coordinating with the Engineering team.
- To manage own time effectively, taking on and controlling small projects independently with minimal supervision.
- Carry out and record CPD (Continual Professional Development) to maintain and enhance competence in own area of expertise
- Proficient in the use of modern IT systems (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned
