Group Sales Advisor

Hybrid - Home working with 2 days per week at Head Office (DE4 3YH)

Fixed term – August 2026 to July 2027

Full time, 37.5 hours per week

£25,200 per annum

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our Central Sales team as a Group Sales Advisor.

As a Group Sales Advisor, you will be the first point of contact for group customers in our call centre, delivering exceptional customer service while actively converting enquiries into sales. You will manage a high volume of incoming calls, emails and group web enquiry forms, guiding each customer from initial interest through to provisional booking with confidence and pace.

What will you be doing as a Group Sales Advisor?

  • Taking ownership of group sales enquiries via phone, email, and online channels
  • Actively converting leads into bookings, maximising every sales opportunity
  • Delivering a high-volume, high-quality sales service with pace and accuracy
  • Building strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business and loyalty
  • Promoting YHA hostels and services, confidently upselling and tailoring offers
  • Following up all enquiries promptly to maximise conversion rates from enquiries to bookings
  • Using sales techniques, scripts, and KPIs to consistently achieve targets
  • Handling customer queries professionally, including during unexpected disruptions
  • Maintaining accurate customer records and data to support reporting and performance monitoring

What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Group Sales Advisor?

Essential

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills (with a particular focus on written communication) and the ability to process information accurately.
  • Strong sales focus with proven ability to work to targets and convert enquiries to bookings.
  • Excellent IT skills - it would be advantageous to have previous experience of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams (as these are all used in the role). We also operate a reservations system so previous experience of reservations would be of benefit.
  • Able to build rapport with customers and colleagues through different communications styles such as email and telephone.
  • Demonstration of our HEART values – they’re part of everything we do, and we look for people who bring them to life in their everyday work

Desirable

  • Experience of working as part of a team, working well with others, and building working relationships quickly as well as being able to work well independently.
  • Proven ability of managing varying pressures and handling difficult situations.
  • Experience working in a sales environment or within a call centre environment.
  • Knowledge of YHA and its customer base would be advantageous, but not essential.

Our current office opening hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. We will require flexibility to work as required to cover telephone opening hours, this may include occasional Saturdays and Bank Holidays.
