Be at the heart of one of the UK’s busiest transport networks as a Central Transport Team Manager, where you'll lead a high-performing team to keep operations running smoothly, optimise transport plans, maximise revenue opportunities and deliver outstanding service to stores, depots and customers.
From solving challenges and driving efficiencies to coaching colleagues and building strong stakeholder relationships, no two days are the same in this fast-paced, rewarding role where your leadership can make a real impact.
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Keep the wheels turning and take ownership of daily transport plans, sourcing the best solutions to deliver outstanding service every day
- Drive performance and profitability by managing backhaul activity, negotiate with hauliers and spot opportunities to maximise revenue and efficiency
- Lead from the front and inspire, coach and support your team to deliver exceptional results and overcome challenges with confidence
- Be the key link and build strong relationships with depots, suppliers and stakeholders, balancing service excellence with cost-effective solutions
- Make a real impact and identify smarter ways of working, drive continuous improvement and help shape the future of the Sainsbury's transport network

What you need to succeed at GXO:
- A keen eye for detail with strong analytical and reporting skills, using data to make informed decisions and drive performance
- A confident communicator and relationship builder who can influence stakeholders at all levels while delivering exceptional customer service
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, develop and motivate teams to achieve great results
- A proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment, makes decisions with confidence and always looks for better ways of working
- Operational know-how with a solid understanding of transport and/or warehousing, plus the drive to improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhance service across the network
Pay, benefits and more:
We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £17.94 per hour, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts!
This is a full time, 12-month fixed term opportunity with core hours of 37 hours per week. Working any 5 days out of 7, with shift hours between 07:00 to 17:00.
