Tonight, thousands of young Londoners will have nowhere safe to sleep. Some have fled violence or abuse. Some have aged out of care with nowhere to go. Some have been let down by a housing system that was never built with them in mind. All of them deserve better.

New Horizon Youth Centre has believed that, and acted on it, for nearly 60 years. Founded in 1967, we are London's only youth-specific day centre, working every day alongside young people aged 16-24 who have nowhere else to turn. We provide immediate, practical support, housing, healthcare, emotional support, life skills, education and employment, working alongside young people, not for them, because we believe they are experts in their own lives. And beyond our doors, we campaign, convene and advocate, using the voices and evidence of young people to challenge the systems that drive homelessness in the first place.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Youth homelessness in London is at crisis levels. Our new five-year strategy, Back to Our Beginnings, sets out our response: a sharpened focus on what we do best, helping young people move from crisis to safety, stability and independence. We have strong finances, a talented team and deep credibility across the sector. What we need now is the right leader to take us into this next chapter.

As Chief Executive, you will be our principal ambassador and strategic lead, building relationships with government, funders and partners, positioning New Horizon as a national voice on youth homelessness, and leading a high-performing team to deliver safe, high-quality, trauma-informed services. This is a visible, place-based role; your leadership will be felt in the same building where young people come for support every day.
