Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – PE-Backed Education & Training Business

About the Role

Marks Sattin Executive Search is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a private equity (PE)-backed Buy-and-Build business focused on education and training services. This organisation is dedicated to transforming lives through education, delivering critical learning opportunities, and driving innovation in educational practices.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic finance leader, collaborating closely with the CEO, senior leadership team, and the PE investment house to oversee decision-making, lead finance operations, and support future growth ambitions. This is a critical role ensuring robust financial stewardship, M&A execution, and strong stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Partner with the CEO and senior leadership to drive organisational strategy, optimise financial governance, and support buy-and-build growth.
  • Corporate Finance & M&A Execution: Oversee mergers and acquisitions (M&A), acquisitions, and integration processes while maintaining strong relationships with the PE house.
  • Finance Team Leadership: Build, grow, and empower the finance function to align with transformational business goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships across the PE fund, senior leadership, and external partners to deliver growth capital efficiently.
  • Operational Excellence: Develop and implement robust financial, reporting, and risk management frameworks for sustainable expansion.

Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Accountant: Must hold a recognised professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, or ACMA).
  • PE & Leverage Environment Experience: Preference for candidates with a track record in private equity-backed business environments, ideally within multi-site education, healthcare, consumer-facing, or related sectors.
  • M&A & Transformation Expertise: Significant experience in acquisitions, integrations, and cost/operational transformations.
  • Senior Leadership & Communication: Demonstrated ability to lead teams in high-growth, high-stakes settings with exceptional communication skills.
  • Strategic Mindset: Strong financial acumen and the ability to collaborate with PE funds to secure funding while driving scalability.
