Location: Sussex
Salary: Voluntary
Commitment: 1-2 days per month

About Prept. Foundation

Prept. Foundation is a children’s charity committed to inspiring a generation to live happier and healthier lives through food education. Our mission is to equip young people with essential life skills and a love for cooking that will empower them for the future.

Following significant growth across Sussex, London and Lancashire, we are seeking an exceptional Chair of Trustees to help guide the charity through its next stage of development and national expansion.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Chair of Trustees to provide strategic leadership to our Board and support Prept. Foundation through its next phase of growth.

The Chair will ensure effective governance, support and challenge the executive team, foster an engaged and accountable Board, and act as an ambassador for the charity’s mission.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of a growing charity that is making a tangible difference to the lives of children and young people through food education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring it operates effectively and remains focused on the charity’s mission and strategic objectives.
  • Chair Board meetings, encouraging constructive discussion, effective decision-making and appropriate challenge.
  • Ensure Trustees understand and fulfil their legal, governance and strategic responsibilities.
  • Monitor trustee engagement, attendance and participation, fostering a positive, collaborative and high-performing Board culture.
  • Ensure actions agreed by the Board are followed up and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with the Co-Founders and senior leadership team to develop and oversee the charity’s strategy, performance and long-term sustainability.
  • Support trustee recruitment, induction, succession planning and ongoing board development.
  • Ensure the Board has the appropriate mix of skills, experience and diversity to support the charity’s ambitions.
  • Promote the highest standards of governance, compliance and accountability.
  • Act as an ambassador for Prept Foundation, helping to strengthen partnerships, networks, fundraising opportunities and external profile.
  • Support and provide constructive challenge to the executive team, helping the charity navigate its next phase of growth and impact.
