I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What will you be doing?
The Chair of Trustees will play a vital role in helping the charity harness the power of singing to improve lives, strengthen communities, and ensure that everyone can experience the health and wellbeing benefits of singing.
With our founder stepping down but continuing to work closely with Playing For Cake as patron, there is an opportunity to refresh the Board and assess the skills we need to ensure we are as effective as possible. We have already added some crucial knowledge and skills with some new trustees coming on board. But we are still looking for the right person to take the position of Chair to drive the good work that has already taken place.

You will provide strategic leadership to the Board and work closely with staff, trustees, group leaders and volunteers to consolidate and build on the already strong reputation of the charity as it seeks to build on its impact on health and wellbeing for local people in Norfolk.
This will include reviewing Playing for Cake's vision and objectives and setting a strategic direction for the next stage of the charity's development. And, importantly, inspiring and taking everyone connected with the organisation on the next stages of the journey.
You will be maintaining and building new productive relationships in the area in conjunction with the Charity's patron and other key people.
You must be passionate about singing as a therapeutic approach and have experience of working in health and social care settings. If you have knowledge of health and social care in Norfolk, even better!
