We’re seeking a Chair of Trustees to guide The How2Hub, connecting education to employment. You will provide strategic leadership, support board development, and help shape a scalable model delivering early career experiences from Year 6.
What difference will you make?
This role will provide the structure and strategic oversight needed to move from early traction into a scalable model. While there is strong engagement and activity underway, maintaining focus and making the right decisions at this stage is critical.
By guiding the board, the Chair will help ensure that priorities are clear and that time and resources are directed effectively. This includes supporting better decision-making, encouraging constructive challenge, and helping the organisation avoid unnecessary complexity.
The role will also strengthen governance and credibility. A strong Chair provides confidence to partners and stakeholders that the organisation is being led with discipline and clear direction.
Ultimately, the impact of this role is improved focus and sustainability. With the right leadership at board level, the organisation is better positioned to scale in a controlled and effective way, increasing its reach and long-term impact.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with experience of building, scaling or advising organisations, ideally with exposure to early-stage growth and strategic development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The most important requirement is the ability to provide clear, independent perspective. This includes being able to challenge constructively, cut through complexity and help focus on what matters most.
Experience of governance or board-level work would be valuable, though not essential if the individual brings strong strategic and commercial experience. A background in investment, entrepreneurship or senior leadership would be particularly relevant.
We are particularly interested in someone who understands how to balance ambition with discipline. This includes recognising when to push forward and when to consolidate, ensuring that growth is sustainable.
The role would suit someone who is comfortable operating at a strategic level while remaining engaged enough to understand the realities of delivery.
We welcome applicants who bring an interest in education, social impact or early careers, though direct sector experience is not essential.

We are now seeking a Chair of Trustees to provide strategic leadership and help guide the organisation through its next stage of development. This is a formative point, where early traction needs to be translated into a clear, scalable model.
The Chair will play a central role in shaping board effectiveness, ensuring that discussions remain focused, constructive and aligned with the organisation’s priorities. This includes working closely with trustees to bring clarity to decision-making and maintaining a balance between ambition and practicality.
A key responsibility will be supporting the transition from early-stage activity into a more structured approach. This includes helping the board prioritise, challenge assumptions where needed, and ensure that delivery, funding and partnerships are aligned.
The Chair will also act as a sounding board, providing perspective on strategy, growth and positioning. There is scope to support the development of the board itself, ensuring that the right mix of experience is in place as the organisation evolves.
This role is particularly important at this stage. The organisation has strong early engagement and collaboration, but the ability to maintain focus and build in the right way will determine long-term success. The Chair will help ensure that this is done with clarity and discipline.
