I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What Makes this Role Exciting
This is a rare chance to help steer a multi‑million‑pound transformation at a FTSE 50 company - work of real scale and consequence. The programme is ambitious and high stakes but you’ll be at the centre of a global change effort, balancing a clear central mandate with practical, on‑the‑ground execution across divisions. It’s a platform to step into a large programme-focused role, navigate risk, shape strategy, and turn decisions into outcomes visible in the business and to customers.
You’ll gain meaningful exposure to senior stakeholders, sales leaders, and operations, with tangible impact on the buyer experience and Lead‑to‑Cash, grounded in the cyclical and physical realities of the events business. You’ll build credibility by setting clear direction, enabling teams, anticipating issues early, and maintaining healthy, constructive tension to keep momentum.
You’ll also be well supported - with strong sponsorship, a collaborative peer network, and room to grow. Expect to define the strategy, refine a global business readiness playbook, deepen your change leadership, and deliver achievements that accelerate your career.
Qualifications
- Ability to develop and execute comprehensive change management strategies aligned with business objectives, including vision setting, governance frameworks, and success metrics that link change activities to measurable business outcomes
- Expertise in building senior relationships, facilitating leadership alignment, navigating organizational politics, and securing visible executive sponsorship while managing resistance at senior levels
- Capability to assess organizational readiness, understand cultural dynamics, tailor change approaches to fit context, and ensure sustainability by embedding new ways of working into BAU operations
- Proficiency in defining benefits frameworks, measuring adoption through multiple metrics, conducting post-implementation reviews, and integrating new behaviours into performance management systems
- Competence in designing integrated governance structures, defining decision rights, managing escalations, and advising leadership on change progress, risks, and strategic trade-offs
- Skilled in developing and executing engagement strategies across diverse groups (executives, managers, frontline employees) with comprehensive impact analysis
- Ability to oversee multi-channel communications ensuring consistent messaging and two-way dialogue, while providing strategic direction on training priorities and delivery approaches
- Expertise in assessing change maturity, coaching leaders, developing change champion networks, and building sustainable organizational change capability through tools, frameworks, and communities of practice
- Competence in aligning change initiatives with other transformation programmes, managing interdependencies, avoiding change fatigue, and coordinating readiness activities across workstreams
- Team Leadership & Development — Capability to lead and develop change teams (Change Managers, Training Lead, Communications Lead, Business Readiness Managers, Champions) through strategic direction, coaching, and performance management
