About the Role
We’re looking for a Project Manager to lead critical initiatives across international regions. Whether it’s product launches, acquisitions, new distribution channels, or operational efficiency programmes, your role will be to:

Our Change Delivery team supports the Board and executive management—connecting visionary strategy with tailored business solutions.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Project Manager, you’ll be instrumental in driving international business outcomes by:
- Leading large-scale projects that align with Markel’s strategic goals, ensuring delivery within time, cost, quality, and risk tolerances.
- Managing stakeholder engagement from initiation to benefit realisation, including:
- Reporting and presenting progress
- Mobilising and inspiring project teams
- Tracking risks and developing contingency plans
- Delivering financial stewardship—resourcing, budgeting, and proactively adjusting for success.
- Orchestrating governance, change control, and customisation to align with business needs.
- Maintaining awareness of project dependencies and their operational or market impacts.
- Conducting lessons-learned reviews to refine future approaches.
- Partnering with IT stakeholders to ensure technical standards and smooth transitions into business-as-usual.

Our Must-Haves
You bring experience in:
- Project Management: Hands-on portfolio of successfully delivered projects, with an understanding of commercial outcomes.
- Process & Vendor Management: Experience negotiating and managing contracts and external partners.
- Change & Improvement: Direct experience in leading business change or optimisation initiatives.
- Certification: Prince2 (or equivalent recognised qualifications) along with demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications for project planning and reporting.
- Financial & Planning Skills: A strong ability to justify costs, manage budgets, and develop business cases.
- Performance Demonstration: Excellence in analytical problem-solving and attention to detail, with a track record of calendar-based planning.
Desirable but not essential:
- Experience with Agile methodologies (for project approach).
- Familiarity with specialist industries (insurance, reinsurance, or advisory consultancy).
