Channel Manager (FMCG)

Channel Management Director (UK Channel)

Job Summary Responsible for developing and implementing the UK channel management strategy to ensure effective execution across distributors and major retail channels. This role oversees:

  • Distributor lifecycle management
  • Channel governance, merchandising and promotional standards
  • Capability development
  • Market opportunity identification
  • Aligned execution with business objectives

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement channel management strategies, policies, and operating standards to drive consistent execution across the UK market.
  • Manage the full distributor lifecycle, including:
    • Partner recruitment
    • Onboarding
    • Performance management
    • Capability development
    • Exit management
  • Establish and optimise distributor governance frameworks, ensuring partners have:
    • Product knowledge
    • Commercial capabilities
    • Operational support to achieve business objectives
  • Oversee retail initiatives across major supermarkets and retail channels:
    • Product listings
    • Merchandising
    • In-store display
    • Promotional activities
    • Compliance with company standards
  • Monitor and evaluate regional channel performance to validate strategy execution.
  • Conduct market, customer, and channel analysis to identify:
    • Growth opportunities
    • Operational risks
    • Areas for improvement
  • Develop actionable channel development plans and strategic recommendations to enhance:
    • Channel efficiency
    • Retail execution
    • Business performance
  • Collaborate with commercial, sales, and marketing teams for alignment and consistent execution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in:
    • Channel management
    • Distributor management
    • Regional sales management
    • Related commercial roles in FMCG, tobacco, or consumer goods.
  • Proven ability to manage:
    • Distributor/partner lifecycle (recruitment to exit)
    • Capability development
    • Performance management
    • Governance frameworks
  • Deep knowledge of UK FMCG distribution models and retail channels.
  • Experience developing:
    • Channel policies
    • Distributor management frameworks
    • Execution standards
  • Hands-on experience supporting:
    • Product listings
    • Merchandising
    • In-store displays
    • Promotional programmes (across major retail channels)
  • Strong analytical and data-driven skills to assess performance and recommend solutions.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and influencing abilities to collaborate internally and externally.
  • Commercially driven, self-motivated, and capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship requirements.
