Job Opportunity: Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced nurse with an interest in Trauma and General Surgery nursing who is keen to contribute to a thriving team in a Major Trauma hospital.
About Katherine Monk Ward
Katherine Monk Ward is a dedicated 26-bed Trauma Ward. The ward caters for patients with significant multi-system injuries that need coordinated multi-disciplinary care. The ward provides specialist trauma care to the patients of South-East London and beyond.
About the Role
We are seeking highly motivated, compassionate and enthusiastic senior nurses to join the team as a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse. You must demonstrate experience in a trauma or surgery setting; have a positive attitude, show professionalism, integrity, determination and dedication. Leadership experience or training, as well as experience in developing others is desirable, but further training opportunities will be available to successful applicants.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a high standard of nursing care to emergency admissions, pre- and post-operative patients, ICU step downs, and patients requiring rehabilitation.
- Ensure effective communication to provide a safe and effective handover, ensuring that our patients receive good continuity in their care.
- Promote patient-centered care and establish good relationships with staff, patients, and carers.
- Communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team and support both the Ward Leader and the nursing team in the delivery of high-quality care and general daily running of the ward.
- Maintain your own personal development with support and guidance from our Practice Development team.
- Supervise and teach junior members of the team and students, encouraging them to seek out their own learning opportunities and helping them to achieve these.
- Manage a demanding workload proactively, champion patient safety and dignity, and strive for continuous improvement within our service.
- Ensure safe medication administration, compliance with our clinical governance framework, and maintain confidentiality when providing patient care.
- Support the Ward Leader with the daily running of the ward, assist with risk management, quality assurance, and service improvement.
