Cormac Environment Service

Cormac Environment Service provides a comprehensive, end-to-end Park and Open Spaces management service across Cornwall. Our professional and operational teams deliver expert grounds and tree maintenance services, quality parks enhancement projects, play facility installation, improvement and repair works, as well as an ongoing stewardship of a wide variety of diverse landscapes from parks, formal gardens, open spaces, sports pitches, cemeteries, waterways, and roadside landscapes. Sustainability and the Natural Environment is at the heart of all we do, adapting maintenance to favour habitats and biodiversity.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a motivated, skilled and experienced Reactive Maintenance Chargehand. This hands-on role involves leading a team and carrying out high-quality repairs across a wide range of sites—including play areas, parks, cemeteries and public open spaces—ensuring safe and efficient operations.

What You will Do

  • Lead a small team across a variety of public spaces and parks
  • Carry out routine and specialist repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Operate a wide range of machinery and tools
  • Ensure safe working practices and site standards
  • Support the development and mentoring of team members
  • Assist with inspections, planning, and delivery of maintenance schedules
  • Contribute to biodiversity and habitat-enhancement projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant horticultural or land-based qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3)
  • Experience operating grounds maintenance machinery (e.g., mowers, strimmers, ride-on equipment)
  • ROLO or equivalent H&S training
  • LGV or C1E category licence
