Location: Biffa Waste – Amberstone Depot Salary: £21.44/h Shift: 08:00 – 17:00

About the Role
As a Chargehand Technician, you will:
- Maintain and repair heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and waste handling equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and DVSA requirements.
- Conduct scheduled preventative servicing and inspections to fulfil operator’s licence commitments.
- Work across a diverse fleet, including light commercial vans up to 44t articulated specialist assets, giving you hands-on learning and technical growth.

Responsibilities
- Deliver high standards of maintenance and repairs to keep vehicles operational
- Perform preventative servicing and diagnostics based on manufacturer and statutory regulations
- Coordinate and oversee fault diagnostics and repairs for your assigned vehicles
- Ensure compliance with IRTE Schemes and logbook records
- Maintain a safe and efficient workshop environment
Requirements
- Fully skilled with a level 3 HGV / PSV apprenticeship, City & Guilds or NVQ qualification at technician level
- Minimum driving licence (car/van)
- HGV licence preferable (but notessential)
- IRTEC qualification desirable (for vehicle inspection discipline knowledge)
