The organisation
Somerville Heart Foundation is a patient organisation and registered charity, for young people and adults born with a heart condition. Set up over 30 years ago, by Professor Jane Somerville, a cardiologist who saw first-hand that a lifelong ‘community’ of support would be desperately needed for those she was able to help medically.
Somerville Heart Foundation has been providing community support, resources and services for those with ACHD (Adult Congenital Heart Disease) for over 30 years and is going from strength to strength. We are seeking an exceptional person who wants to be part of that journey.
The Somerville Heart Foundation provides a range of services to individuals as well as the ACHD teams in specialist hospitals and are building further on those relationships as well as collaborating with other organisations to build partner relations. We offer a supportive environment to enable staff to feel confident in contributing their ideas and possible progression for a dedicated enthusiastic team player.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
