Volunteer Trustee Role | Remote | Preference for London based candidates
FjordKids Foundation UK is building a holistic, secondary school based programme centered on Support, Enrichment & Empowerment. We believe pupils should not have to face hardship or systemic barriers to receive the basic dignity, opportunity, and real world career pathways they deserve to reach their full potential.
Our Three Pillars
- SUPPORT: Dignity, food security, clothing and uniform equity, mental well being, and stigma free resources.
- ENRICH: Creative extracurricular activities, sports, public speaking, confidence, identity, and personal growth.
- EMPOWER: Higher education pathways, a range of traditional and non traditional vocational courses, trade apprenticeships, career readiness, mentorship, economic mobility, and future security.
THE OPPORTUNITY
FjordKids Foundation UK is currently in its founding stage in London, with an international vision for expansion to the US.
We are looking for a mission driven Founding Board Member with experience in philanthropy, fundraising, strategic partnerships, non profit leadership, social impact growth, compliance, and education. This is a volunteer board role for someone who wants to help build the foundation from the ground up.
You will play a key role in shaping FjordKids Foundation’s fundraising strategy, partnership approach, and long term sustainability. This is not a passive advisory title.
We are looking for a visionary, someone who can open doors, ask strong questions, help create structure, and support the development of a credible, fundable, and scalable youth foundation.
WHAT YOU WILL HELP BUILD
As Founding Board Member for Philanthropy & Partnerships, you will help with:
- Developing FjordKids Foundation’s first fundraising and giving strategy.
- Identifying potential funders, grantmakers, and corporate partners.
- Supporting introductions to relevant networks in philanthropy, education, youth development, and social impact.
- Advising on donor communications, pitch decks, proposals, and partnership materials.
- Helping shape FjordKids Foundation’s first funding campaigns and partnership strategy.
- Supporting transparent impact reporting.
- Advising on how FjordKids Foundation can become credible to schools, universities, companies, foundations, and public sector partners.
- Helping safeguard the independence, mission, and governance of the foundation.
- Supporting the distinction between the charity foundation and any future commercial FjordKids Foundation activities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are especially interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Foundation management
- Social impact investing or venture philanthropy
- Youth development and education
- Brand partnerships or mission driven growth
- Public private partnerships
- Legal compliance
- Accounting
- Marketing
You do not need to have experience in every area, but you do need to understand what it takes to help build something from an early stage.
You may be a strong fit if you:
- Believe essential support for secondary school students should be more accessible, preventive, and community driven.
- Have a strong network in philanthropy, business, education, social impact, marketing, accounting, or law.
- Can help FjordKids Foundation become fundable and credible in front of serious partners.
- Are comfortable advising an early stage foundation without all systems already in place.
- Can combine strategic thinking with practical action.
- Are willing to actively contribute, not only lend your name.
- Understand the responsibility of formal charity board service.
- Can challenge ideas constructively and protect the mission.
- Value transparency, good governance, and ethical fundraising.

This role is unpaid. Reasonable expenses may be reimbursed once a budget is available and formally approved. There is no guaranteed salary, paid consulting agreement, or employment contract attached to this board role.
WHY JOIN NOW?

You can help shape FjordKids Foundation UK's funding strategy, governance, partnerships, and impact model from the very beginning. You will be part of building a youth centric movement designed to provide secondary school students with the dignified support and essentials needed for academic attainment. By making a wide range of extracurricular activities accessible, we bridge the opportunity gap between state and private school pupils. We empower students for the future whether that means university workshops and career advice, or targeted support for vocational courses and apprenticeship schemes.
TIME COMMITMENT
Approximately 4–6 hours per month. Remote participation possible. Monthly strategic meetings online or in London. Initial term to be discussed during the appointment process. Preference for candidates based in London or with strong UK philanthropic networks.
SELECTION PROCESS

- Formal appointment if there is a mutual fit
