Charles River Investment Management System (CRIMS) Business Analyst/ Product Analyst

Division: Rathbones Asset Management

Location: London

Contract: Permanent

Working pattern: Hybrid

About the Role

In this role you will be part of the Business Delivery Change team and will be the go-to person for the analysis, design and delivery of change initiatives relating to the Charles River Investment Management System (CRIMS).

Rathbones Asset Management is a growing business, supported by a clear strategy and an ambition to continue scaling. Key to achieving this is the effective delivery of strategic change, automation and operational efficiency. This role plays an important part in ensuring the CRIMS platform continues to evolve to support business needs.

As an internal CRIMS SME, you will have a great level autonomy and have the opportunity to manage a wide portfolio of work.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Proactively delivering system enhancements, configuration changes, workflow improvements and defect‑related change that improve system effectiveness and support business objectives.
  • Operate independently and manage change through the full delivery lifecycle, from analysis and design through to implementation and release.
  • While BAU application support for CRIMS is provided by Group IT, this role provides dedicated business and system expertise within RAM to enable effective change delivery across the platform.
  • Using SQL to interrogate data sets, validate outputs and support change delivery.
  • Working with technology architecture teams and external vendors on system or infrastructure‑related change, with an understanding of integrations, data flows and downstream impacts.
  • Support testing and release activities, including test planning, execution, defect management and post‑implementation support.
  • Confidently manage stakeholders and to translate complex technical concepts into clear, business‑focused outcomes.

About you

If you meet some of these criteria and are excited about the role, we encourage you to apply.

  • Significant experience working on Charles River Investment Management System (CRIMS) in a Business Analyst, Change Delivery, or Front Office Support capacity.
  • Hands‑on experience configuring and maintaining CRIMS, including building and implementing changes directly within the system (e.g. Manager Workbench updates, workspace views, user group configuration and permission changes).
  • Demonstrable experience delivering system or technology change within a regulated financial services or asset management environment.
  • Strong understanding of investment management workflows and operating models across Front, Middle and Back Office functions.
  • Ability to operate independently and manage change through the full delivery lifecycle, from analysis and design through to implementation and release.
  • Strong data analysis skills, including working knowledge of SQL.
  • Experience working with technology architecture teams and external vendors on system or infrastructure‑related change, with an understanding of integrations, data flows and downstream impacts.
  • Solution‑oriented mindset, with the ability to analyse problems and identify practical, effective change solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, business‑focused outcomes.
  • Understanding of outsourced service models and how to deliver system and process change in conjunction with third‑party providers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
