Chartered Company Secretary

Ready to take your career global? Make your mark at one of the biggest names in payments. At Global Payments, you power the global economy every day. Your work connects people, businesses and opportunities across the world, shaping how millions experience commerce.

You will join a global Legal team at the centre of an evolving organisation. As we continue to grow, simplify and scale, strong corporate governance plays a critical role in enabling confident, compliant decisions across borders. This is your opportunity to step into a highly visible role where you influence senior leaders, strengthen governance frameworks and help shape the structure of a global business.

In this role, you'll own governance across key legal entities, drive best-in-class corporate secretarial practices and influence how Global Payments operates at board level. You will work and collaborate within a team. You will create clarity, strengthen accountability and help enable strategic decisions that shape the future of commerce.

What you'll own

  • Own company secretarial delivery for key UK regulated entities, ensuring governance standards meet FCA expectations and support effective board oversight.
  • Shape and embed corporate governance frameworks across multiple jurisdictions, balancing global consistency with local requirements.
  • Partner with senior leaders and boards, including independent non-executive directors, to provide practical governance advice that enables confident and compliant decision-making.
  • Ensure board and committee meetings are well-prepared, effective and well-structured.
  • Support strategic initiatives including corporate restructurings, entity simplification and M&A activity.
  • Ensure the effective management of governance documentation and statutory compliance across key legal entities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
