Chef
Chef – Dementia Care Home (Purpose-Built Victorian Care Home)
Location: Eye, Suffolk Provider: One of the UK’s leading healthcare organisations
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to work in our dedicated care home for residents with dementia. Based in a beautifully converted purpose-built Victorian country house, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional food quality while adhering to dietary and nutritional needs.
Essential Qualification:
- NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Food Preparation & Catering (mandatory for consideration)
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with residents and the Manager to develop menus that suit individual preferences and dietary needs
- Oversee and actively participate in food preparation, cooking, and serving according to planned menus
- Maintain clear menu displays and ensure transparency for residents
- Accomodate special diets, cultural requirements, and individual dietary needs with choices provided
- Monitor stock quality and quantity, placing orders via catering manual
- Supervise and manage the kitchen team, ensuring smooth operations
- Comply with HACCP guidelines and document all processes in line with the catering manual
- Work with the Bursar/Home Manager to control food expenses and maintain budget adherence

Preferred Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in healthcare or hospitality as a Chef
- Strong cooking skills, versatility in techniques, andplate presentation
- Knowledge of nutrition and expertise in designing diet-specific menus
- Excellent communication and people-focused interpersonal abilities
- Ability to manage time effectively and thrive under pressure
- Full understanding of health and safety regulations
- Experience in training and supervising staff
