Company Description
Buxton Brewery began in 2009 as a small, garage-based operation and has grown into a modern brewery housed in a 7,000 square foot facility on Staden Lane in Buxton. The team of 20+ is dedicated to producing innovative, high-quality beers with an emphasis on craftsmanship, detail, and a balance of tradition and creativity. The brewery now produces around 3,500 liters per brew, three times per week, and offers more than 30 distinct brews plus special editions. Every beer is designed to engage the senses, from bold, hop-forward styles to lighter, nuanced offerings, all made by a small team of passionate beer enthusiasts.
Role Description
The Chef role at Buxton Brewery is a full-time, on-site position based in Buxton. The Chef will be responsible for planning and preparing high-quality dishes that complement the brewery’s range of beers, including designing menus, sourcing ingredients, and ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.

Daily Tasks
- Food preparation
- Cooking during service
- Monitoring stock levels
- Maintaining kitchen cleanliness
- Adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
The Chef will collaborate closely with the brewery team to develop food pairings, seasonal specials, and events menus, while helping to create an engaging and welcoming experience for guests. This role also involves training and guiding kitchen team members, managing kitchen operations efficiently, and supporting continuous improvement in both food quality and service.
Qualifications
- Culinary skills: Proven experience as a Chef or Cook, strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu development.
- Food safety and compliance: Knowledge of food hygiene regulations, safe food handling, and health and safety standards in a commercial kitchen.
- Creativity and pairing: Skill in creating innovative dishes, designing menus that pair well with a variety of beers, and adapting recipes to seasonal ingredients.
- Teamwork and communication: Ability to work effectively with front-of-house and brewery teams, provide clear direction to kitchen staff, and communicate with suppliers.
- Time management: Strong organizational skills to handle busy service periods, multiple orders, and changing priorities.
