Chef Position
The Role
As a Chef at Hungry Horse, you’ll be the heart of the kitchen, blending passion for food with precision to deliver exceptional dishes every time. Whether it’s fast-paced lunchtime rushes or meticulous plating for dinner service, you’ll thrive in a dynamic environment—keeping spirits high while maintaining the highest culinary standards.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will include:
- Preparing, cooking, and presenting food that exceeds customer expectations and meets GK (Greene King) standards.
- Ensuring strict hygiene and food safety protocols, prioritising the welfare of the team and customers.
- Efficient team communication to coordinate effortlessly, ensuring dishes reach customers timely and flawlessly.
- Staying updated with new ingredients, seasonal menus, and promotions to offer consistently fresh offerings.
- Playing an active role in monthly kitchen meetings and staying informed about company policies.

What Makes a Great Chef at Hungry Horse?
You’ll shine if you possess: ✔ Conflict resolution skills under pressure while Upholding kitchen culture. ✔ A true passion for cooking—delivering tasty, beautifully presented dishes daily. ✔ The willingness to be hands-on in all areas of the kitchen when required. ✔ A “can-do” attitude to help team members and adapt to fast-paced environments.
Technical Requirements
- Experience in a fast-paced food environment, ideally within Greene King brands.
- Certification in HACCP (or equivalent)—tootally essential for food safety.
- Confidence with kitchen repertoire for Lunch (Al Fresco, Chicken, Fish & Burger CFTs) and Dinner Service (Snacks, Small Dish, Plated Meal).

Hungry Horse operates out of the Brislington Hub (Lodekka), meaning you’ll be part of 5 full-time kitchens, which share a food preparation space.
