Responsibilities
As a Chef, your key duties will include:
- Supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
- Maintaining good food storage procedures and ensuring proper stock rotation.
- Preparing, planning, and cooking meals to a consistently high standard, while accommodating special requests and dietary requirements.
- Serving service users, staff, and visitors with food and beverage in a professional manner.
- Preparing and producing meals for conferences and banquets.
- Participating in cost control through practical food costings.
- Adhering to ‘Safer Food Better Business’ standards, record keeping, Food Safety Regulations, and all safety procedures at all times.
- Assuming full shift responsibility for the catering operation.
- Assisting the Head Chef in researching and preparing new menus while ensuring meals align with healthy eating guidelines.
- Completing and filing necessary paperwork in relation to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system, including fridge temperature logs, food temperature logs, and cleaning schedules.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- To be 18 years old or older.
- GCSE or equivalent in English.
- City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (Basic Food Preparation and Cooking) or an equivalent qualification.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certification (essential).
- Intermediate Food Hygiene Certification (desirable).
- Previous experience in a similar environment.
- Experience delivering services to a large number of people.
- Knowledge and proficiency in menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control, and budget management.
