Chef Required – Ruby Lodge, Sowerby, Thirsk, North Yorkshire

Location: Ruby Lodge Care Home in Sowerby, Thirsk, North Yorkshire YO7 1TS Hours: 40 hours per week (with rotation of weekend duties)
About the Role
Do you love creating delicious, nutritious meals that make a difference? Ruby Lodge seeks an experienced Chef to join their luxury care home in North Yorkshire, dedicated to delivering exceptional, 5-star catering experiences for residents in a warm and supportive environment.
At Ruby Lodge—a home accommodating up to 69 residents—luxury meets compassionate care. Role Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, preparing, and serving high-quality, nutrition-focused meals tailored to residents’ needs.
- Help the Chef Manager supervise the catering team and ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Monitor and uphold food hygiene and safety standards, including risk assessments and kitchen cleaning protocols.
- Take responsibility for kitchen operations in the absence of the Chef Manager.
- Collaborate with the Chef Manager to develop and implement resident-focused menus.

About You
Applicants should bring:
- Significant experience as a Chef (3+ years preferred), ideally with backgrounds such as Sous Chef, Restaurant Chef, or Hospitality Catering.
- A valid food hygiene certificate.
- A passion for high-quality food production with a focus on quality and health benefits.
- Strong practical and organisational skills, able to demonstrate leadership in the kitchen.
- Bonus: City & Guilds 7061 NVQ Level 2 in Catering would be advantageous.
Leader qualities include:
- A warm personal demeanour, as you’ll engage directly with residents, their families, and guests.
- Initiative and the ability to handle responsibility across all catering functions.
- Willingness to continue learning and advance your skills in a supportive environment.
