Bank Chef – Barchester

At Barchester, we are providing a casual, part-time role with flexible working hours as a Bank Chef (replacement chef) in one of our hotels, restaurants or care settings. Unlike traditional shifts, this role offers predictable days with alternate weekends off and no split shifts, ensuring a balanced lifestyle while delivering hotel/restaurant-quality meals to residents.
About the Role
You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, welcoming, and high-quality menus, ensuring they cater to the needs of residents. Working closely with them, you will help tailor dishes while maintaining our person-centred hospitality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Duties
- Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence
- Work with fresh seasonal produce to craft high-quality, wholesome dishes
- Support the creation of a warm, efficient, and fun kitchen environment
- Operate within budgets, stock control, and food safety guidelines
- Conduct regular compliance audits
- Follow HACCP principles to ensure safety and hygiene standards
Leadership & Menus
- Assist in leading, motivating, and inspiring the kitchen team
- Collaborate with residents and staff to design personalised, balanced menus
- Demonstrate property and staff engagement, maintaining a hospitality-first approach
Essential Requirements
✅ Must have:
- A warm, personable, and genuine approach with an interest in resident wellbeing
- Professional qualification – City & Guilds, NVQ/SVQ, or equivalent experience
- Experience leading, mentoring, and inspiring teams
- Strong knowledge of dietetics and nutritional requirements
- Expertise in cooking with fresh, seasonal ingredients
- Ability to foster a wholesome and welcoming environment
- Good working knowledge of HACCP and food safety
