About the Role

This is a casual, part-time role in a Bank Chef position at Barchester. Here, you’ll deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. Collaborate with a trusted team alongside the Head Chef to craft nutritious, flavourful, and well-balanced menus, all while tailoring choices to our valued residents.

Requirements

Must-Have:

  • A personable and warm approach with genuine care for the wellbeing of residents
  • City & Guilds/national vocational qualification (NVQ)/Scottish vocational qualification (SVQ) in Cookery or equivalent
  • Experience helping lead and inspire a culinary team
  • A strong understanding of nutrition
  • Proficiency with handling fresh, seasonal food
  • A talent for creating a warm and welcoming environment for our residents

Need to Do:

  • Assist in managing the kitchen when the Head Chef is absent
  • Work with fresh produce to deliver high-quality, wholesome dishes—cooked at the highest standards
  • Help cultivate a warm, efficient, fun atmosphere within the home
  • Ensure efficient budgeting
  • Conduct regular audits
  • Manage stock control
  • Provide assistance in team leadership and motivation
