Casual Bank Chef – Opportunities at Barchester

This is a casual, part-time role offering flexible working. As a Bank Chef at Barchester, you’ll deliver hotel and restaurant standards while avoiding long shifts and upturns. You’ll assist the Head Chef in crafting nutritious, balanced, and seasonal menus that are tailored to residents’ needs while fostering a person-centred hospitality approach.

What You Will Do
- Assist the Head Chef in creating and implementing nutritious, seasonal menus
- Deliver restaurant and hotel standards in dishes without long or unsociable shifts
- Collaborate with residents to tailor meals while delivering exceptional quality and care
- Lead kitchen operations when the Head Chef is absent
- Work with fresh produce to create high-quality, wholesome dishes
- Cultivate a warm, efficient, and enjoyable workplace culture
- Manage budget, stock control, and efficient kitchen operations
- Complete regular audits to ensure compliance and excellence
- Assist in leading and motivating the kitchen team
Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Personable and empathetic approach, with a genuine commitment to residents’ wellbeing
- City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ qualification or equivalent in culinary arts
- Team leadership experience, with an ability to inspire and mentor others
- Strong understanding of nutrition-management principles
- Hands-on experience with fresh, seasonal ingredients
- Ability to create a warm and welcoming kitchen environment
- Knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) standards
