Bank Chef – Part-Time & Casual | Barchester
Are you a qualified chef looking to work with fresh, seasonal food, while enjoying a better work-life balance and making a meaningful difference?
At Barchester, we’re hiring Bank Chefs for our growing team—this is a casual, part-time role with flexible working conditions. Unlike traditional split shifts or long weeks, you’ll deliver hotel/restaurant-quality hospitality while assisting the Head Chef in crafting nutritious, well-balanced menus tailored to residents.

Must Have
- A personable, warm approach with a genuine interest in residents’ wellbeing
- Qualified chef status:
- City & Guilds
- NVQ
- SVQ (or equivalent validation of training and experience)
- Experience in leading and inspiring teams
- Strong understanding of nutrition
- Experience with fresh, seasonal produce
- Ability to create a warm, welcoming environment
- Solid grasp of HACCP protocols
Key Responsibilities
- Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence
- Work with fresh produce to deliver high-quality, wholesome dishes aligned with the highest standards
- Foster a warm, efficient, and fun team culture
- Operate within stricter budget controls (compared to traditional restaurant roles)
- Conduct regular audits
- Manage stock control
- Assist in leading, motivating, and mentoring team members
