Casual Bank Chef – Barchester Homes (UK)

This part-time, casual position offers flexible working hours—no split shifts or long weeks. As a Bank Chef at Barchester, you’ll support the Head Chef in crafting nutritious, balanced, and delicious menus while collaborating with residents to personalise dishes. Our mission? Responsibilities (NEED TO DO)

To excel in this role, you’ll:

  • Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence, ensuring smooth operations
  • Source and work with fresh seasonal produce to deliver high-quality, wholesome dishes to the highest standards
  • Foster a warm, efficient, and joyful kitchen environment
  • Budget effectively to optimise food spend
  • Conduct regular audits and maintain rigorous stock control
  • Lead and motivate the team to achieve kitchen excellence

Requirements (NEED TO HAVE)

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • A warm, personable approach with a genuine commitment to residents’ wellbeing
  • Qualified chef status—City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
  • Experience leading and inspiring a team
  • Solid knowledge of nutrition principles
  • Hands-on experience with fresh seasonal food
  • Ability to create comforting, welcoming community spaces
  • HACCP certification or understanding
