About the Role

This is a casual, part-time position offering flexible working at Barchester. As a Bank Chef, you will:

  • Deliver hotel/restaurant standards without traditional split shifts or long weeks
  • Assist the Head Chef in preparing nutritious, flavourful, and well-balanced menus
  • Collaborate with residents to ensure meals are tailored to their preferences and nutritional needs
  • Provide person-centred hospitality
  • Operate in a setting driven by quality, warmth, and passion

Roles & Responsibilities

Must-Have Qualities & Experience

  • A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in residents' wellbeing
  • A City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ certification or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in leading and inspiring teams
  • A strong understanding of nutrition
  • Knowledge of fresh seasonal food preparation
  • The ability to foster a warm and welcoming environment
  • Good HACCP understanding

Key Tasks

  • Manage the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Utilise fresh produce to create high-quality, wholesome dishes aligned with the highest standards
  • Contribute to a warm, efficient and collaborative work environment
  • Operate within budget
  • Conduct regular audits
  • Implement stock control management
  • Assist in leading and motivating a team
