Chef de Partie

Location: Seaford College, Petworth – West Sussex (GU28 0NB)

Contract Type: Full-time (40 hours per week) Salary: £30,000 – £31,500 per annum

Hours & Shift Patterns:

  • Term time: Tuesday to Saturday (6:45am–3:15pm, 9:00am–5:30pm, 10:30am–7:00pm)
  • Out of term time: Monday to Friday (6:45am–3:15pm)

About the Role

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Chef de Partie to join the kitchen team at Seaford College.

You’ll support food preparation, uphold high standards, and play a key role in delivering daily meals and special events. Our seven-Michelin-starred catering company, Holroyd Howe, provides innovative fresh food services specifically tailored for independent schools and colleges.

This role is based in a remote location within the South Downs, requiring a full driver’s licence and access to a car. Public transport is not a realistic option.


Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations
  • Motivate the team to deliver high standards of food and service
  • Ensure food safety and allergen controls are adhered to
  • Contribute to innovative menu planning
  • Manage mise en place and ensure smooth, timely service
  • Support events, functions, and school life

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

  • Ideally:
    • Experience as a Sous Chef or Chef de Partie, preferably in contract catering, independent education, or a business/industry setting
    • Passion for fresh, seasonal food and creative presentation
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high food safety standards
    • Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
    • A flexible and proactive approach to work
