About the Role

The Chef de Partie prepares meals, manages station efficiency, and ensures culinary excellence in our kitchen. This role plays a critical function in delivering exceptional food service and maintaining high standards of quality, portion control, and presentation.
Responsibilities
Primary Duties

Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare special meals or substitute menu items as necessary
- Regulate ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters to maintain optimal temperatures
- Thaw frozen ingredients swiftly and safely
- Ensure proper food portioning, arrangement, and garnishing
- Maintain detailed food logs for inventory and tracking
- Monitor quality and quantity of prepared items

Menu & Operational Coordination
- Inform management of excess food items for daily specials
- Communicate menu specials and out-of-stock items to service staff
- Work closely with the Chef on food presentation and quality control
- Prepare and cook recipes adhering to quality checks, presentation standards, and food preparation guidelines
- Manage cold food preparation and storage

- Customer & Team Support
- Anticipate and address guests’ expectations and service needs
- Maintain professional communication in kitchen operations
Behavioural & Team Duties
- Assist in hiring, training, coaching, and scheduling junior staff (outside formal supervisory structure)
- Set a professional example for team members
- Follow company policies, safety protocols, and security procedures
- Report accidents, injuries, and equipment needs to supervisors
- Complete mandatory safety training and certification requirements
- Uphold confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets
- Showcase a positive attitude, strong teamwork, and willingness to assist peers
Physical & General Demands
- Perform standing/walking for extended periods
- Bend, twist, reach overhead, and move appropriately (e.g., below-the-knee stooping)
- Lift, carry, push, and pull objects ≤25 lbs without assistance
- Adapt to additional duties as required by management

Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Degree, diploma, or certification from a technical/trade/vocational school (culinary/food science-related preferred)
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years in related food preparation/culinary roles
- No prior supervisory experience required, though initiative and mentoring willingness valued
- Certification: None mandatory
