About The Role
Love working with fresh produce and cooking to order—without the late nights? This could be the role you’ve been waiting for.
Due to the continued success of our Sidings First Class café carriage, we’re looking for an enthusiastic Chef to join our growing team.
Sidings offers a vibrant à la carte brunch experience, serving fresh, high-quality dishes between 9am and 4pm, seven days a week. With a strong focus on seasonal ingredients—including produce from our own kitchen garden—you’ll have the opportunity to cook with quality ingredients and play a key role in delivering a consistently excellent experience.
This role offers something increasingly rare in hospitality, a genuine focus on work-life balance alongside high-quality food.
- Primarily daytime hours (9am–4pm service).
- No regular late nights (apart from occasional events).
- Flexible rotas with two days off per week.
- Work with fresh, seasonal produce, including our own kitchen garden.
- Competitive salary, benefits, and a share of gratuities.
You’ll be a key part of the kitchen team, helping to deliver high-quality, cooked-to-order dishes in a fast-paced but supportive environment.
You Will
- Prepare and cook dishes fresh to order during service.
- Set up and maintain your section to a high standard.
- Ensure your station is well-stocked and organised.
- Manage stock and minimise waste.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and safety standards.
- Work collaboratively with the wider team to deliver a smooth service.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
