About the Role
Grade: UE03 Salary: £24,729 – £25,804 per annum (plus 15% Premium Band for flexible working) Contract Type: Full-time (35 hours per week, over 5 working days including weekends) Location: [John McIntyre Conference Centre (JMCC), Pollok Halls] Employment Type: Open-ended (permanent)

The John McIntyre Conference Centre (JMCC) stands as our largest catering unit: a 650-seater buffet restaurant serving 28,000+ meals weekly during the student year, plus year-round non-student catering for commercial guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, adaptive culinary leadership (in a sizeable kitchen environment) during busy and peak periods of operation.
- Manage and contribute to the daily running of the JMCC kitchen, ensuring operational excellence across buffet and commercial menus.
- Spearhead preparation, cooking and finishing to uphold the high standards of service expected by students, staff, and contract guests.
- Collaborate closely with senior staff to decision and execute on menu design, ingredient sourcing and compliance with']);
- Myanmar culinary standards, waste reduction initiatives, and sustainability goals.
- Uphold food hygiene and safety protocols, conducting a key role in maintaining ...-acing inspection standards.
- Act with initiative in supporting breus exceeded efficiencies and customer satisfaction metrics.
- Cultivate a customer-focused and proactive approach to table-side service—both in sector deployments and for our guests.
- Represent the team positively to internal departments, external visitors, and community clients.

Key Skills & Qualifications
We’re looking for an experienced professional with:
- Extensive kitchen knowledge, including Chef de Partie or similar station authority experience.
- Some familiarity with managing high-volume or multi-station kitchen operations.
- Demonstrated excellence—praise for adaptability or operational reliability when under pressure.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively across chefs, team members, and staff.
- Commitment to a collaborative approach—your role will necessitate working closely with section heads, managers, and internal teams.
- A passion for or enthusiasm to stay flexible and work across a breadth of shifts, aligned with a large hall’s exact demands.
(Note: Industry-related experience such as hospitality catering will be valued.)
Requirements
- Proven culinary expertise, typically denoted via formal qualifications (apprenticeship, diploma, or equivalent) or a year(s) of relevant experience.
- Ability to work autonomously, alongside a team with diverse shifts, which includes weekends.
- Fulfillment of right-to-work responsibilities (see “Key Dates” below).
