CQC Rating: Good Hourly Rate: £17.77 per hour Contract: Full-time (Permanent) Hours: 37.5 hours per week (weekend working required)


About Halliwell Care Home

Our Halliwell Home sits on the outskirts of Tunbridge Wells, delivering residential and nursing care at the highest standards in a beautiful, homely environment. Part of Elizabeth Finn, a leading care provider focused on "Bring Love, Inspire More, Act with Purpose, Welcome All".

As our Chef, you’ll contribute to meals that reflect our residents’ tastes and dietary needs via an à la carte menu while enjoying structured rosters and minimal late-night shifts.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals adhering to established menus and dietary prescriptions (including allergies, special diets, and nutritional requirements).
  • Maintain HACCP, COSHH, and IDDSI compliance in all food handling.
  • Ensure high standards of hygiene, taste, and presentation (with strict attention to food safety).
  • Organise kitchen workflows, monitor stock levels, and assist with supply ordering to reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with catering teams and management for seamless kitchen operations.
  • Co-create menu ideas that engage resident preferences and seasonal ingredients.
  • Uphold safeguarding and company policies at all times.
  • Demonstrate precision and creativity with structured, consistent scheduling.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience & Compliance

  • Proven track record as a Chef or Cook in hospitality/catering (care experience is a plus, not essential).
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene (offering support for UK upskill opportunities to Level 3).
  • Rotatable availability for weekends and shifts under an 8-hour weekly rota.
  • Enhanced DBS check required (clear conviction checks addressed on merit).

Aptitude

  • Strong organisational skills paired with meticulous attention to detail.
  • A collaborative mindset, prioritising resident satisfaction.
  • A passion for innovative, nutritious menu creation.
