Chef – School Catering (Full-Time)


Location: High School of Dundee, Euclid Crescent, Dundee, DD1 1HU Hourly Rate: £13.50/hour Hours: 32.5 hours per week Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 2:30pm (38 working weeks)

Key Responsibilities

  • Purchasing & Cost Management:

    • Ordering, budgeting, and managing food supplies to maintain cost control
  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Ensuring strict adherence to food safety and hygiene practices
    • Daily cleaning of kitchen facilities (dishwasher, surfaces, equipment)
  • Food Preparation:

    • Daily production of breakfast, break items, and pizzas for lunch service
    • Assisting with desserts, baking, and any additional menu items as directed by the Head Chef
  • Service & Quality:

    • Setting up hotplate for breakfast, lunch sittings, and live service
    • Serving food to agreed standards, recipes, and allergen protocols

Requirements

  • Essential: -Equivalent to a College or work-based assessment for the SVQ Professional Cookery (SCQF Level 5) minimum
    • Minimum 1 year of paid kitchen experience, preferably in contract catering (school/education sector a plus)
    • Self-motivated and capable of working unsupervised
    • Strong time management, organisation, and flexibility
    • Excellent presentation skills for food
