Chef – Nursing & Residential Care Home (Weymouth, Dorset)
A fantastic new job opportunity has emerged for a talented Chef to work in a brand-new care home opening soon in Weymouth, Dorset.
You will be joining:
- One of the UK’s leading healthcare providers
- A nursing and residential care home in one of England’s most beautiful seaside towns
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must hold:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Food Preparation and Catering
Key Responsibilities
Menu & Catering
- Assist in menu planning in consultation with residents and managers
- Oversee preparation, cooking, and serving of all food in line with agreed menus
- Display menus showing available choices for residents
- Ensure residents with special diets, dietary restrictions, or cultural requirements are accommodated

Stock & Logistics
- Check quality and quantity of stock
- Order items according to the catering manual
Team & Compliance
- Supervise kitchen staff
- Follow and record HACCP processes and catering manual procedures
- Work with Bursar and Home Manager to stay within food expenditure budgets
Preferred Skills & Experience
While not mandatory, the following will be valuable:
- Proven experience as a Chef, ideally in healthcare or hospitality
- Excellent cooking techniques and culinary skills
- Solid understanding of nutrition and ability to create compliant menus
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
- Effective time management and ability to work under pressure
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Experience in training and supervising kitchen staff
