Chef Manager
Catering Manager – Chartwells (Compass Group UK&I)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Catering Manager who is passionate about delivering exceptional food experiences and maintaining world-class customer service. In this full-time role (35 hours per week, contracted to 44.6 weeks/year), you will be responsible for overseeing all Compass Group UK&I catering and service operations for Chartwells.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing delicious food to the highest standards
- Supervising culinary and catering teams to ensure impeccable food and service
- Overseeing efficient catering operations, including:
- Managing inventories
- Monitoring budgets
- Implementing action plans
- Reporting on KPIs and targets to your line manager
- Representing Compass Group UK&I and maintaining a positive brand image
- Identifying opportunities for new food or service concepts to drive sales
- Acting as a liaison between customers and culinary/service teams
- Supporting and training teams with a leadership-first approach
- Enforcing and reviewing Health & Safety standards across catering teams

Shift Pattern
- Mon–Fri: Full-time (day shifts)
- Sat/Sun: As required (specific pattern TBD)
Ideal Candidate Requirements
We are looking for an ambitious and motivated individual with:
- Passion for outstanding food and customer service
- Minimum 2 years of catering experience
- Proven team management experience
- NVQ Level 1 & 2 or City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 qualification
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
- Strong financial acumen
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
