Chef Manager (Norwich)

Location: Norwich Salary: £38,000 - £40,000 per annum

An innovative Chef Manager is required to lead our contract at one of our Norwich locations! A fantastic opportunity to create exceptional dishes within an excellent kitchen environment, mentor a team of 4, and thrive in Monday-to-Friday working hours—with frequent high-end catering events fuelling your creativity.

Your Role

Responsibilities

As our Chef Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

Menu Development & Execution

  • Design and plan menus aligned with guest/operator preferences and our brand vision.
  • Oversee food preparation and presentation to ensure high-quality, consistently crafted dishes.
  • Monitor waste and portion control to optimise efficiency.

Team Leadership & Growth

  • Recruit, train, coach, and supervise a multiskilled kitchen team, fostering a supportive culture.
  • Deliver continuous performance feedback and promote professional development.
  • Cultivate chemistry among colleagues to drive a collaborative, high-performing team.

Operational Excellence

  • Manage inventory with a thingness towards ordering supplies to avoid excess or shortages.
  • Lead cost control by tracking food expenses and eliminating waste.
  • Budget awareness – develop and manage budgets while ensuring an exceptional service standard.

  • Engage with clients to understand delectable needs, translating preferences into bespoke dining solutions.
  • Build strong relationships by listening and communicating clearly to address queries or bespoke event requirements.

Safety & Compliance

  • Work closely with Head Chef to enforce health and safety protocols and food hygiene standards.
  • Embed a safety-first mindset into kitchen operations and team practices.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Analyze food costing and financial performance to identify savings opportunities.
  • Maintain optimal cost efficiency without compromising culinary excellence.

Innovation & Culinary Trends

  • Stay ahead with industry research, exploring new techniques and ingredients.
  • Introduce fresh, innovative dishes that elevate our menus year-round.

Documentation & Procedures

  • Ensure accurate records for stock, orders, and production processes.
  • Maintain strict adherence to HACCP, health and safety, and regulatory standards.

About You

Requirements

  • Proven leadership as a Chef Manager, ideally within contract catering.
  • Creative genius: An asset for design innovative dishes that captivate taste buds.
  • Team management acumen – Inspire, equip, and challenge colleagues to excel.
  • Strong Stellar communication skills, balancing clarity, diplomacy, and enthusiasm.
  • Cost-conscious culinary master with experience in budget-related decisions.
  • Impeccable knowledge of food safety and operational hygiene.
  • Adaptability and resilience to flourish in high-pressure culinary environments.
