Chef Manager
Chef Manager – FTC (12 Month Contract, Ideally from September 2026)
Location: Sevenoaks Preparatory School TN15 0JU
Contract Type: Term-time • 38 working weeks
Salary: £35,500 per annum

About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Chef Manager to lead the kitchen team at Sevenoaks Preparatory School.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing daily kitchen operations to ensure the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation.
- Supporting and motivating a small kitchen team, fostering a positive working environment.
- Overseeing menu planning, stock control, and supplier relationships.
- Maintaining accurate financial records (budgets, ordering, stock rotation).
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, health & safety, and safeguarding policies.
- Collaborating with the school community to deliver a friendly and efficient catering experience.
- Championing allergen controls and compliance.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead kitchen operations for quality, safety, and presentation.
- Oversee small kitchen team with leadership and motivational support.
- Conduct menu planning, stock control, and supplier negotiations.
- Maintain accurate financial records (budgets, inventory).
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and safeguarding policies.
- Foster collaborative partnering with the school community.
- Champion allergen controls.

Candidate Profile:
- Previous experience as a Chef Manager in contract catering (preferably with independent schools).
- Strong kitchen management and leadership skills.
- Passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and balanced, appealing menus.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- Knowledge of food safety standards, allergen management, and sustainability.

Requirements:
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS check, including Barred List, mandatory for safeguarding roles.
