Location: Canterbury, Kent (DA11) Salary: £35,000 per year Hours: 40 hours per week (operating over 7 days, including days and night shifts)

Key Responsibilities
Menu Planning & Execution:
- Develop and execute innovative menus that align with location preferences and customer expectations
- Oversee food preparation, portioning, and quality to ensure excellent service and minimal wastage
- Stay abreast of culinary trends and implement new ideas
Employee Management:
- Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise kitchen/front-of-house staff (chefs, cooks, etc.)
- Provide performance feedback, mentorship, and career development opportunities
- Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture
Inventory & Cost Control:
- Monitor stock levels, control waste, and order supplies efficiently
- Work closely with head chefs to optimize budgets and reduce costs

Customer Relations:
- Engage with customers to understand preferences and address specific catering needs
- Actively seek feedback to continuously improve service
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and compliance regulations
- Promote a culture where safety is embedded in all processes
Budget & Financial Management:
- Develop and manage kitchen budgets
- Track financial performance and drive cost-saving measures without compromising quality
Compliance & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, orders, and food preparation procedures
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements
Requirements
- Experience: Proven success as a Chef Manager in the contract catering sector (or willingness to develop)
- Skills: Exceptional culinary creativity, leadership, team management, and cost control
- Qualities: Excellent communication, adaptability in fast-paced environments, and commitment to BaxterStorey’s values
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of food safety & health and safety protocols
