Job Title: Chef Manager - FTC (12-Month Contract,Ideally from September 2026)

Location: Sevenoaks Preparatory School TN15 0JU, Sevenoaks

Contract Type:

  • Term-time
  • 38 working weeks

Salary: £35,500 per annum

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Chef Manager to lead the kitchen team at Sevenoaks Preparatory School. You will oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring fresh, high-quality meals for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead kitchen operations, maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation
  • Manage and support a small kitchen team, fostering a positive working environment
  • Oversee menu planning, stock control, and supplier relationships
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including budgets, ordering, and stock rotation
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and safeguarding policies
  • Collaborate with school staff to deliver a seamless catering experience
  • Champion allergen controls within the kitchen

Qualifications

Candidate Profile:

  • Previous experience as a Chef Manager or similar role, preferably in contract catering (Independent Education sector)
  • Strong leadership and kitchen management skills
  • Passion for seasonal, fresh ingredients to create nutritious and appealing menus
  • Exceptional organisational, communication, and risk management skills
  • Familiarity with food safety, allergen awareness, and sustainability principles
