Chef – Full-Time (35 Hours/Week)
We’re recruiting a ambitious Chef to help us create exceptional food experiences for Defence, supporting clients from breakfast to dinner, seven days a week.
About the Role
As part of Defence within Compass Group UK&I, you’ll craft deliciously high-quality meals that uplift clients, customers, and teams alike. This isn’t just about cooking—it’s about making a real difference every day in a role that values growth, creativity, and teamwork.
You’ll follow daily shift patterns of 5 out of 7 days, blending precision with passion to ensure a thriving kitchen and satisfied guests.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Creating Exceptional Food: Prepare and deliver delicious, high-quality meals that delight customers and clients.
- Menu Development & Growth:
- Oversee menu changes and updates.
- Spot improvement opportunities to evolve our food service offerings.
- Customer-Centric Service:
- Listen and act on feedback to refine food quality.
- Help design new menus and culinary concepts that stand out.
- Representing the Brand:
- Maintain a positive image for Defence at all times.
- Ensuring Efficient Operations:
- Keep inventories well-stocked to minimise delays.
- Uphold hygiene standards through cleaning and kitchen management.
- Compliance:
- Strict adherence to Food Handling, Hygiene, and Health & Safety regulations.

Our Ideal Chef
You should be:
- Passionate about great food and hospitality – your creativity and enthusiasm will make every meal memorable.
- Certified: Hold a City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent certification.
- Team-focused: Proven experience supervising kitchen teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Prepared for leadership: Previous experience in a culinary management role.
- Compliant: Possess a Food Hygiene certificate.
- Flexible & Adaptable: Willing to meet the demands of a varied schedule, including shifts on 5/7 days.
