We are currently recruiting for a Chef to join our team at one of our independent schools in Worksop S80 3A.

This is a permanent, term-time position, working 40 hours per week, 5 out of 7 between the hours of 7am and 7:30pm. Although the school year spans 35 weeks, this is a year-round role. You will continue to work throughout the full calendar year, supporting summer lets and catering for events held outside of term time. Free on-site staff parking is available, and all staff receive a complimentary meal during their shift.

We work in office restaurants, independent schools and at conference venues with the same high-end ethos throughout.

We are looking for a positive, honest, and reliable individual to join our friendly and hardworking team. In return, we offer excellent training and genuine opportunities for development and progression within our team for the right candidate.

You will work closely with our kitchen team to create fresh, exciting dishes made from scratch each day, so experience working with fresh ingredients is essential. We also place a strong emphasis on customer engagement during service, so you will need to be well-presented, personable, and confident in delivering a high standard of hospitality.

Based within a historic school setting, you will be helping to provide nutritious, high-quality meals for up to 700 staff members and students, including boarders. This is a rewarding role where your work will play an important part in supporting students’ wellbeing in a warm and welcoming environment.

Skills and Experience:

  • Have experience working in a similar role and environment
  • Be highly organised and comfortable working in a high-pressured environment
  • Ensure you have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
  • Keep up standards of hygiene and ensure all areas are clean and tidy
  • Have excellent customer service and social skills
  • Be responsible for the preparation and serving of food to staff
  • Have a can-do attitude and will work well as part of a team of 12
  • Be customer focused
  • Have basic food knowledge
  • Be willing to participate and enjoy working part of the team
