Summary
Winfield Hospital, a leading private hospital on the outskirts of Gloucester, is seeking an experienced Chef to join its dedicated Catering team. The hospital boasts:
- Three fully-equipped laminar flow theatres
- Six-bedded recovery area
- JAG-accredited endoscopy unit
- Twelve outpatient consulting rooms, along with physiotherapy, pharmacy, audiology, radiology, ultrasound, MRI, and mammography facilities
This role involves preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality food across the hospital, ensuring a consistently superior service to patients, staff, consultants, and visitors.
Opening Hours: 07:00–17:30 (Monday to Sunday)
The Role
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and serve nutritious meals across Winfield Hospital’s facilities.
- Work across a 7-day shift pattern, ensuring a 7-day service (3 days per week).
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety (essential).
- Use initiative to adapt to fluctuating demand and organisational needs.
- Collaborate within a supportive team committed to patient care.
Essential Knowledge:
- Proven experience as a Chef (industry or catering environment).
- Minimum Level 2 Food Hygiene Certification (essential).
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations.

Desirable Knowledge:
- Experience or familiarity with the IDDSI Framework (for patient-specific dietary needs).
What You’ll Bring
✅ Experience as a Chef (commercial or hospital kitchen preferred). ✅ Level 2 Food Hygiene Certification (mandatory). ✅ Empathy and professionalism – caring for patients, staff, and visitors. ✅ Flexible, problem-solving approach. ✅ Excellent communication – ability to operate within a team. ✅ Princes Trust vacances or military/caring background – welcome, but not essential.
