Chef Supervisor

Senior Chef / Food Preparation Assistant (Thursday & Friday, 8am–3pm)

Shift Pattern

  • Thursday and Friday 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

As part of your role, your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting and handling day-to-day food preparation in the absence of the senior chef, ensuring compliance with site standards and quality expectations.
  • Managing the cooking process at the assigned station, ensuring multiple dishes are prepared and delivered efficiently in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to safety, hygiene, and proper use of kitchen equipment and utensils on site.
  • Notifying senior chefs of low inventory to maintain adequate stock of fresh ingredients and supplies.
  • Collaborating with the culinary team to uphold high-quality food and service standards throughout shifts.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef in a contracted catering environment.
  • Valid Level 2 in Catering and Hospitality (or equivalent qualification).
  • Strong skills in cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and processes, with the ability to multitask efficiently under pressure.
  • Proven ability to work well in a team, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards, including:
    • Legal policies for food handling
    • Storage, preparation, and recipe adherence
    • Quality control and presentation methods

Ideal Candidate Preferred Skills

  • Ability to lead and manage teams effectively depends on situational handling and problem-solving.
  • Customer service experience with a focus on delivering exceptional standards.
  • Organisational skills and time management under demanding conditions.
  • Confidentiality handling (ensure sensitive information is managed appropriately).
  • Competency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).

Certifications

  • Basic City & Guilds Certification, BTEC, or NVQ (Level 2 or above).
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene certification is desirable.
  • Compliance with UK Right to Work requirements.

Hiring Criteria

  • Demonstrated leadership in managing and motivating teams.
  • Understanding of financial operations, including budgeting and cost control.
