Chef de Partie – Term Time Only
Location: Hymers College, Hull Salary: £14.00 per hour / 35 hours per week (Mon–Fri) Start Date: September 2026

Are you a Chef looking for a rewarding opportunity? Join Holroyd Howe, one of the UK’s leading contract caterers, and help create meals that inspire our students at Hymers College, a prestigious independent school catering to over 800 pupils.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Chef to work in a highly prestigious education setting, contributing to a contract catering company setting new standards in education catering.

- Collaborate with a tiered catering service (breakfast, lunch + hospitality)

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with our culinary team to craft flavourful, nutritious dishes that enhance student experiences
- Demonstrate expert presentation, organisational, and communication skills
- Assist the Chef manager in all aspects of food preparation, production, and service
- Ensure dishes consistently meet company standards and client expectations
- Supervise and train kitchen staff and assistants, enforcing food safety and sanitation procedures
- Contribute to menu planning, considering dietary restrictions, nutritional guidelines, and seasonal ingredients
- Oversee stock control and procurement to optimise inventory while minimising waste
- Assist in special events, themed dinners, and culinary initiatives
- Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant kitchen environment (adhering to health and safety regulations)
- Support the Chef manager with administrative tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, and food cost recordings
- Stay updated on industry trends, culinary techniques, and ingredients to evolve menu offerings
- Foster a positive team culture with leadership, communication, and teamwork

Qualifications & Attributes
Preferred Background
- Previous experience in contract catering, educational institutions, or high-volume kitchens
- Culinary degree or a recognised culinary certification
- Deep knowledge of food safety standards
- Ability to multitask efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment

- Passion and enthusiasm for food and creative dining experiences
- Highly organised and adaptable
- Team-player mindset – proud to succeed as part of a collaborative team
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when required
- Commitment to safeguarding students (enhanced DBS with barred list check mandatory post-offer)
- Readiness to provide professional references before appointment
