Title: Chef de Partie – Term Time Only

Location: Hymers College, Hull

Salary: £14.00 per hour / 35 hours per week (mon-fri)

Start Date: September 2026

Are you a Chef looking for a rewarding opportunity? Join Holroyd Howe at one of our prestigious independent schools and help create meals that inspire our students.

We are seeking an experienced Chef with a background in exceptional food catering services to join our contract catering company and work in one of our highly prestigious education settings.

Nestled in the heart of Hull, this independent school caters to over 800 day pupils and staff, offering not only breakfast and lunch but also an extensive hospitality service—operating 5 days per week.

This role presents a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Chef to establish themselves within our catering company and help set new standards in education catering.


Job Description

As a Chef de Partie, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the culinary team to craft flavorful dishes that nourish both body and mind.
  • Supporting the Chef Manager in all aspects of food preparation, production, and service.
  • Ensuring quality and presentation of all dishes meet company standards and client expectations.
  • Supervising and training kitchen staff, including kitchen assistants, to maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Assisting in menu planning and development, considering dietary restrictions, nutritional guidelines, and seasonal ingredients.
  • Overseeing stock control and ordering to maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimising waste.
  • Collaborating with the catering team to execute special events, themed dinners, and culinary initiatives.
  • Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment, adhering strictly to health and safety regulations.
  • Supporting the Chef Manager in administrative tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, and recording food costs and inventory.
  • Staying updated on industry trends, culinary techniques, and new ingredients to enhance menu offerings.
  • Fostering a positive working environment through leadership, effective communication, and teamwork.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a contract catering company or educational institution is preferred.
  • A culinary degree or relevant certifications from a recognised institute.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure, particularly in high-volume kitchen environments.
