Chemical Cleaning Operative – Head Office (Elsham/Immingham)

Altrad is currently recruiting Chemical Cleaning Operatives for siteworks at Elsham/Immingham with an immediate start available.


Key Details

  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Hours: 38-hours per week (Monday–Friday)
  • Location: Elsham/Immingham site (must be local to site)
  • Rate: £13.14 per hour under AES agreement

Job Overview

The Chemical Cleaning Operative plays a critical role in maintaining equipment integrity through thorough cleaning, maintenance, and restoration using chemical agents while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Role & Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Review and interpret cleaning schedules and site-specific instructions.
  • Prepare work areas with safety signage, ventilation, and containment measures.
  • Select, prepare, and safely mix cleaning chemicals in line with SDS/mfr guidelines.
  • Clean equipment, surfaces (e.g., pipes, tanks, machinery, floors) using manual/powered tools.
  • Remove residues, scale, or contaminants via brushes, sprayers, pumps, or high-pressure equipment.
  • Rinse, dry, and inspect cleaned areas to ensure full compliance with standards.
  • Dispose of waste chemicals/materials safely and per environmental regulations.
  • Securely store chemicals/tools and report any stock malfunctions to management.

Compliance & Support

  • Document work via cleaning logs/checklists, noting hazards and completed tasks.
  • Wear PPE consistently—protection against chemicals is mandatory.
  • Assist with machine maintenance and escalate malfunctions immediately.
  • Participate in safety drills, risk assessments, and training on:
    • hazardous substance handling,
    • cleaning process standards,
    • site safety protocols.

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

  • Basic literacy/numeracy to process procedures, measurements, and safety data sheets.
  • Full UK Driving Licence may be required for site travel.
  • Previous commercial/industrial cleaning experience is preferable.
  • Safety Passport holds significant advantage.
  • WJA (High-Pressure Water Jetting) qualification ideal.
