Chemical Risk Advisor/COSHH Coordinator
Location: Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater Type: Permanent – Full Time
NG Bailey are seeking a highly organised and technically skilled Chemical Risk Advisor/COSHH Coordinator to join the MEH Alliance at Hinkley Point C, providing specialist chemical management expertise across one of Europe’s largest construction projects.

### Responsibilities
Ensure full compliance with:
- COSHH legislation
- Environmental permits
- REACH requirements
- Project-wide chemical governance standards
Key tasks include:

Oversee the safe, compliant, and controlled use of COSHH-regulated products across the project lifecycle, collaborating with the Environmental Lead and HSE team to deliver strong chemical and environmental assurance.

Accountability for implementing and maintaining site-wide compliance with relevant:
- Environmental legislation
- Permits
- Regulatory requirements

Monitor and mitigate risks at subcontractor and operational interfaces to prevent non-compliance and minimise environmental risk.

Assist with:
- Investigating, reporting, and closing environmental incidents/non-conformances
- Capturing and sharing lessons learned

Identify and drive improved environmental performance, sustainability initiatives, and a culture of environmental responsibility.

Support and deliver COSHH risk assessments across all operations, ensuring:
- Appropriate mitigation measures are in place
- Controls are effective and compliant

Manage and maintain a detailed inventory of +500 chemical products, including records for:
- Approval status
- Storage locations
- Usage history
- Disposal routes

Develop, review, and approve COSHH assessments, ensuring they are:
- Technically robust
- Legally compliant
- Accessible to all relevant teams

Coordinate the lifecycle of new chemical submissions, including:
- Safety Data Sheet (SDS) review
- Environmental impact checks
- Ensuring compliance with site permits
- Final approval processes

Maintain accurate records of:
- SDS, chemical registers
- COSHH documentation
- Regulatory updates

Deliver training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns to promote chemical safety culture.

Oversee DSEAR assessments and management of controls where relevant.
### Requirements
Required experience and qualifications:
- Documented experience undertaking COSHH assessments on large/complex projects/sites.
- Awareness of DSEAR requirements.
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in a science discipline (e.g. chemistry or related field).
- Completion of the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) P304 course (COSHH – Fundamentals of Risk Assessment and Control), or equivalent qualifications/training (e.g. NEBOSH).
- Training for this can be provided for qualified candidates.
